HDTV VIOLENCE MUCH WORSE THAN I THOUGHT

October 21, 2009

After my plea for the end of senseless violence against innocent HDTV’s yesterday, I thought people would heed my words. At least, the people who own the extremely volatile Nintendo Wii console. Little did I know how weak and powerless my voice was on the internet filled with a billion other blogs. I thought maybe, just maybe I could help spread the word in defense of our preciously expensive HDTV’s. But it’s no use my friends. SONY has gone and done the unthinkable. They make a mockery of my post from yesterday and have rubbed their distaste for HDTV’s all over my face. Slo-mo destruction of this magnitude is like a slap on your cheek, in the freezing cold, after a couple bottles of cheap, headache-inducing wine.

LG’s, Bravia’s, Samsung’s, Vizio’s… they’re all targets now. First it was the Wii, now it’s the PS3 taking aim. What a shame. Not cool SONY, not cool at all.

If Microsoft gets on board with this HDTV hate, I may have to switch to PC only gaming.

NEW RATCHET & CLANK GAMEPLAY: LOOKS LIKE A MUST BUY FOR PS3 OWNERS

September 11, 2009

I know, I know.. I still need to get a PS3 already. The price went down a $100, I said I would go out and buy one when it did, and I still plan on doing that. Please be patient with me. I takes me some time to go out and spend $400. It’s got to be a spontaneous moment though. Trust me, it’s hard to wait for the right timing to go and do this when I have games like Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time staring at me.. nudging me, poking me saying, “you’re missing out here bud, buy a PS3 already or else you won’t be able to play this!” I get it Ratchet, just shut your cake hole already, alright? Sheesh. I have to hear it from you and from that dude Nathan Drake from Uncharted 2. I know I am missing out on some PS3 goodness and you know what? It’s about time that I am. Sony stepped up their game, and I’m taking notice.

Until then, enjoy this new Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time gameplay footage along with me.

YES, THE MYTHICAL PS3 SLIM IS REAL

August 19, 2009

After about a year of rumors, pixelated magazine scans, and absolute forgeries, the mythical PS3 Slim that many said did not even exist, officially now exists. Exhibit A: the video above brought to you by GamesRadar.

This my friends, is a wonderful day indeed for the world of gaming. The most major gripe I held about the PS3 was not that it was necessarily big (hello, remember the original Xbox behemoth?) it was really the price that just killed it for me. There was no way I was going to spend $400+ on another gaming console, especially when there weren’t very many must have games that I wanted. My gaming machine of choice was obviously the Xbox 360 for many different reasons. That being said, this may alter things a bit for me.

I said once the price of the PS3 goes down by $100, I would go out and buy one. I will stick to my words and will do just that. When? I don’t know. But I’m sure it will be some time this year. There are so many games in the Sony PS3 library now I have been wanting to play. Sony really stepped it up in the games department and the future, although bleak in its current state, is looking brighter with this new price point. Not to mention the added bonus of a smaller console to fit next to my Xbox 360.

For now, I’ll watch the retail release date come and go. Wait for the drama to die down and any kinks in the hardware or firmware to be updated and resolved so I can start my PS3 gaming nirvana on a clear and hassle free path. If I’m going to jump to the dark side, I better damn well be doing it right.

UP UP, DOWN DOWN, LEFT RIGHT, LEFT RIGHT

February 28, 2009

One of the most famous cheats in gaming history belongs to one of my favorite childhood game growing up, Contra. That code stayed embedded in my head since the first time I found out about it when I was a little kid. My best friend and I would play this for hours. Of course, back then it was a challenge. Now when I play it on Xbox Live Arcade, I find it very easy to beat. I guess all those years of gaming after I first played Contra for the NES has finally paid off. Do you agree when I say another Contra game should be developed? I wish. Keep it as a platformer, but update it. Kind of like what was done with Bionic Commando. Same game, but with better, well.. everything.

I guess my wish will have to wait another day. But if I actually had a PS3, I could be playing this LittleBigPlanet “Contra” remake. A total of seven different people put in a very thourough representation of every level of the first Contra game. Eight stages total. This is probably the best LittleBigPlanet created project I have seen so far. The Mirror’s Edge one was cool, but that’s so 2008. Anyone could have made that level. But this? You can tell a lot of effort was put into this and the creators should be proud of their work. Whether it’s funner to play the real Contra or not, you’ve got to give credit where credit is due. Excellent work gentlemen.
